Management Problem

A management problem that I am currently facing is whether to take an unpaid internship which I got invited to or work at a cellphone store where I get paid and really need the money. On one hand is the internship where I will gain valuable experience and it will look great on my resume. The downside is that I wont be making any money for about three months. I will go broke and wil have to ask my parents for money which I dont like doing. At the cellphone store, I get enough money for myself every week. From money for transportation and lunch, I can live off this job and enjoy my life. I am in a dillema and I'm not sure what decision to take.

I don’t think that this is a management problem, but rather a choice that you have to make considering future opportunities. I believe that having an internship may help you gain experience and serve you better in your future. For me if I get the chance to have an internship I will do it. I will try to find a job on the weekends. If the money you get from your current job is only enough for transportation and all your other personal needs, the weekend job will be just fine, if you are willing to work in the weekends of course. Maybe you should give up your current job and bear the fact that you have to ask your parents for their help for only couple of months, since the benefit of doing the internship may exceed the pain of asking your parents for help. I don’t know if this will help, but that is what I will do if I were you.

yea i agree with atika. It is a choice you have to make and i believe that experience in an internship will help you in the long run. In the future companies will look at what credibility you experience has in your resume and thats what will count the most. One should think in the long run. Todays Internship might make you elegible for a job in the future that will pay 10 thousand dollars more. Honesltly i say dont think about the money and do what will look better on your resume. It will definetly help you in the long run.
